As a beginner to the sport of kayak fishing at the start of 2018, I have been overwhelmed by the difference between chasing fish from shore, boat and kayak. After a large number of fruitless trips, I received some advice which changed my success rate in a single trip. Since then, my catch rate has increased and my love of the sport has grown.
I appreciate the support that allowed me to end my run of unsuccessful days fishing from the kayak. While I am learning every time I hit the water, I have been fortunate to meet a dedicated community of kayak fisho’s, who educate me every time we meet. This site is my attempt to pass on some of the knowledge I have graciously been provided, plus provided unbiased reviews of equipment, discuss safety on the water and give fellow kayak fishers an outlet to tell their stories.
While catching fish is not my measure of success, I understand the frustration of continuously failing to catch fish. I also know some of the other issues confronting someone new to the sport. How do you choose a kayak which suits you? What safety equipment is essential and how do you reduce risks on the water? Where do you find like-minded people to fish with, or just to seek advice? I aim to answer some of these questions.
I am based in Queensland, but trust that some of the articles will help others starting this amazing sport. I also hope to add content from kayak fisho’s from across Australia, with fishing tips, local knowledge and reviews of their equipment.
For now, this is a work in progress and more is to come. Thanks for taking the time to visit and feel free to contact me with any questions. If you would like to publish on this site, I am keen to hear from you.
